Water Taxi Services

Based in Wrangell, Alaska, our water taxi service can get you around the Wrangell vicinity and take you to the United States Forest Service recreation cabins on the Stikine River system. Helpful information about these cabins and their locations is available through the link HERE (F/S link); just scroll down to the Wrangell RD listing. The US Forest Service is in charge of the cabins; they cost about $35.00 per night, per cabin, and are one of the most popular ways of experiencing rain country. The cabins provide opportunities to relax in awe-inspiring locations. Decide which cabin is for you by using the link above. If you need them, we can offer you suggestions, too. Since many cabins lack established trails, don't skip our skiff, canoe, and kayak rentals (Breakaway Link).

Stikine River (Guided or Unguided)

No one beats our Alaska guided tours. Inside the US border, we provide transportation to all locations along the Stikine River, reaching up to 160 miles inside British Columbia, Canada. Come to us for 2-3 day trips along the river, or to undertake 160-mile adventures to Telegraph Creek. You'll be outfitted with maps, local knowledge, and our best suggestions to make the trip upriver unforgettable. Whether you want to chart the Stikine to experience one of our Alaska glacier tours, or go brown bear watching, we rent all camping equipment necessary. Count on SAT phones, VHF radios, GPSs, and everything else, which, of course, includes canoes and kayaks. For more details on that just go to canoe and kayak rentals (Breakaway Link). Our vessels handle groups of 2 to 30 people, with gear.

Traveling between Wrangell and Petersburg, OR Petersburg and Wrangell? We have service in both directions. A boat ride between Wrangell and Banana Pt., either way, is $40.00 per person. The fee for the car taxi ride to and from Petersburg is separate.

POW Island fishing water taxi service

We provide transportation to numerous fishing lodges on Prince of Wales Island, and have done so for years. Our service includes pick-up and drop-off at the airport and your Wrangell lodging. Learn more below.

Prince of Wales Island

Whale Pass

We do transportation services for Ruff It Cabins and General Store  (link), located in Whale Pass on Prince of Wales Island. Working with Jenny Vasser, in recent years, I have only encountered very satisfied clients. Find self-guided hunting services and skiffs.

Another option in Whale Pass is Fly Quest Lodge (link). Jim and Andee McDonough are the new owners. They've worked hard on upgrading and marketing their new home and business. Lodging, three square meals a day, and great fishing -- you can't beat that! Skiffs are available also.

Coffman Cove

Visit the City of Coffman Cove (link) Web site to learn more about this locale. One operation we have worked with, for years, is Hedges' Coffman Cove Bunkhouse (link). Their customers are pretty big on return visits, so book your stay with them well in advance. They provide full meals and skiffs.

Point Baker

Don't miss The Outpost at Pt. Baker (link) -- it's been in operation for many, many years. They're also in charge of the Pt. Baker Bar and Grill, a great place to celebrate your day's catch!

You can fly into Wrangell on Alaska Airlines Flight 65 from Seattle, Washington, or Flight 64 from Juneau, Alaska, and Breakaway Adventures will pick you up at the airport and jet-boat you out to the lodge of your choice. We'll also pick you up on your departure date and get you to the airport.
